  • Multiplicity... changing the way I use a computer...

...well, actually, computers. Earlier the week I received an newsletter from Stardock Corporation, the creators of WindowBlinds, DesktopX and Object Desktop.  In that newsletter was mention of a new product that they were releasing called Multiplicity.  Here's a blurb from their website: Multiplicity is a brand new program that lets ...

  • Windows Application Verifier

Back in May 2003 I mentioned a problem with the application verifier not handling the .NET framework correctly (or that the framework was breaking the rules, however you want to look at it).  Someone was asking me about the logo program and this product came up in the discussion so I went to go check if there was a new version.  Well, it ...

  • Google Desktop... Uses 2.3GB of your drive???????????

Everyone seems to be shouting praises about Google Desktop... however, reading through one persons experience, I have a concern. “It finished surprisingly fast (over the night). 216K items, of them ~36K emails. The index is 2.3Gb.”-- Jan Haugland OK, so if my math isn't failing me, that's approximately 11+k per “document” ...

  • Microsoft .NET 1.1 SP1, .NET 1.0 SP3, XP SP2 and potential problems.

A few people have already mentioned .NET 1.1 SP1 (in addition to .NET 1.0 SP3) being available as of 8/30/2004... but since I've been a little busy, I didn't notice the availability until I updated all of my systems last week.  A couple of people of mentioned that SP1 has affected their ASP.NET applications while others have mentioned ...

  • Visual Favorites - Early Alpha Build

I've got a very early alpha build of the Visual Favorites application I mentioned a couple of weeks ago.  I've been real busy working on a lot of things, so this got a little neglected.  Spent last night and tonight getting it polished up a bit for the features that are currently active. Currently, it: Drag and Drop favorites between ...

  • System Restore....

OK, I knew that there was this thing called System Restore in Windows XP... however, I've never really needed it.... well, until now ;-) I installed an application developed by a co-worker and it basically destroyed “something” that caused the SDK for one of my hardware devices to stop working.  After some cussin'... someone suggested ...

  • CodeSmith - Strongly-typed ArrayList collection for VB.NET

I've completed the conversion for the ArrayList.cst and IList.cst C# source files distributed with CodeSmith to VB.NET (all 2752 lines of it ;-) ).  Assuming I don't have any conversion bugs left it in (I've done some testing and it's working great for my purposes).  My goal was to keep the translation as close as possible to the ...

  • Adventures in CodeSmith...

I forgot to mention on the list that I'm also working on converting some of the CodeSmith templates for generating strongly-typed ArrayList collections from C# to VB.NET.  After some further adventures in the land of FxCop, I noticed that some of the conversion wasn't as close as it should have been so dug in a little deeper and now the ...

  • VisualFavorites - A teaser screen capture.

The main menu and toolbars aren't completed just yet (more of a placeholder), worked on getting the general layout (which is all resizable) complete.  Also got all the folder editing (new, rename, delete) via context menu and now include drag 'n drop folder moving.  The treeview drag 'n drop emulates the behavior of Windows Explorer ...
