  • Watching recorded TV with Windows Media Player

I “cut the cord” years ago and have been using Windows Media Center to record television for ages.  It is with great sadness to see Microsoft drop Windows Media Center from Windows; however, that doesn’t change the fact that I literally have years (several seasons) of content to catch up on… I used to be able to just launch Windows Media ...

  • End of year wrap up (2011)

BLOG I'm currently in the planning stages to rebuild this site.  I've delayed doing this for a long time since I didn't want to "break links"; however, one reason why I don't contribute as much as I used to is the fact that I enjoy the comment interaction.  Thanks to blog spam, I had to disable anonymous ...

  • Windows Media Player 11

In the line of... EVEN MORE STUFF... Windows Media Player 11 has been released as well (apparently on October 30th, so I'm a little late).  No matter what your oppinion of the previous media player versions has been, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.  This is the closest I've seen to doing this "right" ...

  • Adventures in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Here's a few items that I wanted to share (or follow up later) regarding various cool things you can do with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (MCE). Case I haven't decided what I want to do regarding a case, but this one looks nice. Need to do some evaluating... Caller ID Although MCE (2005 version) supports on screen Caller ...

  • Windows XP MCE 2005 Upgrade Problems (and Solutions)

Like every other developer out there that has taken the plunge into Windows XP Media Center Edition, I downloaded the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 a couple of days ago and applied the 2004 version as an upgrade.  At first, everything looked like it was working.  I upgraded and launched MCE 2005.  The TV was ...

  • Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

I've joined a couple of other folks in the attempt to rebuild their machines with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004.  I was resisting the move, but since Office 2003 has been released it gave me two reasons to rebuild my machine.  To add even more incentive, one of my hard drives decided to start acting up and went into a forever loop on ...
