Windows Application Verifier
Back in May 2003 I mentioned a problem with the application verifier not handling the .NET framework correctly (or that the framework was breaking the rules, however you want to look at it). Someone was asking me about the logo program and this product came up in the discussion so I went to go check if there was a new version. Well, it appears since that time, some developments have occurred (just no releases as yet).
- Coming Soon! Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.0 - August 9, 2004
- Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit 4.0 Beta Invitation Announcement - September 13, 2004
In the second announcement, it states that “We expect the ACT 4.0 beta to be available for download by the end of October” and “We are targeting the end of Q1 2005 for the 4.0 release”. What’s interesting is that unlike some other products, this download is not available via the MSDN Subscribers path.
I know it’s late in the game, but I fired off an email to the beta list to see if I could get my hands on it and find out… after over a year and a half… if it’s going to handle the framework properly. If I get a response, I’ll update accordingly.
